129,000 bulbs of vivid purple crocus and strking yellow daffodils were planted under the auspices of beautifulPerth, and the project involved the support of a wide partnership comprising committee members, local Perth schools, Viewlands Venture, the PKC Employment Support Team and the charity Check-in.

The project, generously made possible by the National Lottery's Awards for All programme, means that in the region of 160 bulbs were planted for every one of Perth's glorious 800 years of existence. The total effort created a striking pattern of vivid colours which will be appreciated by many and will herald the arrival of spring for years to come.

Euna Scott, Chair of beautifulPerth said of the display: "The display gave rise to many complimentary comments and positively glistened in the occasional early spring sunshine. Importantly it also adds a touch of vibrant colour to a relatively new area of Perth and it will bring much pleasure to those who can admire it in the years to come. It is a fitting way to mark an important milestone in the Fair City's evolution!"
